In growing children, both upper and lower jaws are still forming and the bones have not yet completely hardened. The bones are more pliable and easy to alter.

Facial orthopaedics with functional appliances ( such as myobrace) can be applied to improve poorly developing jaw and facial proportions in all three dimensions.
